The race went well yesterday. I went a minute and a half faster than my last race. Tim thinks that I need a different training regiment, and I probably do need a bit more of a kick in the butt to get myself moving faster. I mean, I've been running for a while now and I can basically only run one mile before I have to stop and walk (which I am proud of), but for the length of time that I've been running, i should be a little bit better than that. The folks that I run with are all really fast and they are winning their categories, and I am coming up behind at close to twice their time. :-P One guy literally ran a 10k in the time that it took me to run a 5k.
The contra dance was so much fun! Tim came and some of his friends all joined, too. It would be more fun if I was more experienced. It takes a lot of concentration to learn all the steps and do them correctly. I am really looking forward to the contra dances at the Folk Festival to try out my skills again. After the dance we went to a delicious Sushi placed called Jasmine's that's in a cute little storefront downtown. It was DElicious. Our friend, Dan, decided that Sake Bombs were a good idea, so we went with it. (he was buying. ;o) ) sake, Sake, SAKE BOMB!!! Two of my attempted four ended up on the table, ground, and my lap rather than in my stomach. :-P Maybe not the best primer for the night before a 5k, but still, very fun.
Still no great news from Texas. One of the positions that Tim had been in the running for, but wasn't openly advertised, just opened up. It has a lot of potential because it's an AP history class and regular history. The job that I interviewed for won't be finalized with a teacher until the end of the month, so I still don't know, either. It would be nice to have at least some "yesses" or "nos" instead of having all of these "I don't knows" floating around. However, I am remaining positive. No matter what, I have a job for next year at my current school.
Well, it's about that time! Pool, here I come!

I have been living in the dark ages of LJ. I just now updated to ...I don't know what it's called, but now I have ads to the side, and an inbox, my journal is all pretty, and all that stuff. It's great! Well, the ads aren't great, but I can deal with them.
Tonight The Young and the Old String Band is playing for an old time contra dance at the Senior Center. I'm really excited! This is our first performance of the year in public. I Love contra dancing. I'm nervous though, because I'm playing the upright bass for the first time ever in a performance. Yikes!!! I'm really not that good at it because I've been playing for a few months. I know there will be some people who are really good at it who will be there and that is what makes me nervous. I've got to start somewhere, though.
Also, tomorrow is the Palace Saloon 5k. Yay! It was so fun last year. I ended up running by myself because the girl I had been training with was doing much more independent training than I was and was therefore much faster than I was. This year I think is going to be the same story...sort of. Tim said he would run it with me, but when he get's going, he can go for miles and miles without a break at all. I have to have some resting points or I feel like my heart is going to explode. I'd rather not feel like that, and he thinks I should. So, he's going to run at his own pace.
No updates on the job market. I'm applying for a summer music camp instructor position here in Tally, and I could teach some classes at "The Brogan." That was just so stressful for me when I taught it last year. I taught Magic Camp and MySummerCamp.com. They were fun in the end, but I just was way too high strung for my comfort level.
I need to start tuning up my autoharp for tonight's show! Hopefully everything will be fun this weekend. :)

I miss how much I used to write in here. I am going to get back into writing here because I can look back and see all the interesting things that I was doing at any point just by going through my LJ, and I miss that. So, lets catch up, shall we? okay. hmmm....so...
Last week Tim and I went out to Texas to interview for jobs and look at houses. I had a pretty decent interview on Wednesday, but the woman didn't let me leave feeling all warm and tingly. I answered all of her questions well. In the end she told me that she is interviewing a woman with 15 years experience from out of state, so she wouldn't know anything until after that interview. Tim had good interviews, too, but because he's not certified, the people at the schools where he applied were stand-offish about offering anything to him. Also, on our way home, Tim's brother called and there were 2 new positions posted for history teachers at a school right next to the neighborhood where we might get a house (if we get jobs).
We're in a tough spot with the jobs right now, and I don't think it's going to get any easier for us. Tim graduates in May with his masters in history. yay! but, the job market SUCKS right now. :-/ We're looking at Texas because the market there is really good for in terms of jobs (well, sort of), houses, and we like the area. Everything is bigger in Texas.
And, everything is Blonder in Texas, too. I got my hurr did while we were out there and it is much more blond than I was anticipating. I think I'll grow accustomed to it, but it is still shocking to me to see. I've been working my way very gradually through hair changes. I started with tiny highlights that you could hardly see. Then, this guy who Sucked butchered my hair and gave me these crappy bronze colored highlights that you could hardly tell were there, but I hated them. Next, the girl Rocked my hair. It was shocking for a while, too, but I LOVED it. Now, erm...I think I'll get used to it. The girl was like, Let's go Blonder and Bigger! and i was Pumped! so i did. Well, it is more blonde, but I'm not sure I like it. I'll try to put a picture up so I'm not leaving you hanging. :)
I really like my job right now. I'm working at an elementary school as an Associate Teacher. It was a tough one when I started, but I have much more responsibility now...however, I'm not getting paid a penny more. That stinks.
I've taken up running. I don't know if I've written about that here yet. I started running last fall, and have sort of kept it up. I was HOTT for the wedding. ;) (and modest, too) but it is a hard one to keep up with in Florida over the summer. Basically between November and March the weather is right for running. There's a race this Saturday, The Palace Saloon 5k, where you get free beer at the end.
I'm feeling rather self-centered in this post, however, it is a post about me, so I guess it's going to be that way. me, me, me.
K, that's it for now! :-D I will be back!
This week in class we are studying the Rainforest as our focus for our Trees theme. We were studying the medicinal benefits of herbal remedies prescribed by a Shaman. Pine Bark can be used to soothe a cough, garlic has benefits related to detoxifying blood and improving heart function, and mint can calm your stomach. One of my kids then raises his hand. "Ms. Ginny, You mean your stomach can be angry?"
Lol. I had to laugh to myself because it was so cute!

the cupholder in my car and every time i start
moving or come to a stop, it jingles and
reminds me of your beautiful wedding..."
my reply:
" :o) "
It was uncharacteristically sweet of my father, and it made me feel instantly guilty about whining about the dress pictures. :-P
It's 8/8/08. very cool.
:(
I SERIOUSLY realize that I'm being incredibly whiney because all of the rest of the pictures turned out really beautiful.
Just one little whine to write down. :-P
